The Closure Record cross-references King County health department filings, City of Seattle business license records, and Google Places data to produce a verified, continuously updated dataset of restaurant and food establishment closures across Seattle. Every record includes a source trail. Use the charts, download the data, or cite us directly.

Active license status from data.seattle.gov. A still-active license counts against a closure; a lapsed or non-renewed license is the closure signal.
business_status field (OPERATIONAL, CLOSED_TEMPORARILY, CLOSED_PERMANENTLY). Verification layer, not primary source.
Seattle Times, Eater Seattle, community reports. Manually verified before incorporation.
A King County closure with score ≥ 0.5, or a Google permanent-closure with no active license (which confirms on its own).
Evidence suggests closure but is not yet confirmed — score ≥ 0.2, or any single Google-closed / news signal.
Google Places or news reports a temporary closure. May reopen.
Previously closed, now confirmed active. Moved from closed status.
Still present in active license data. Negative closure evidence.
